14. Metal Mettle

I was born with a silver tongue, Copper eyes and a gold heart. A grain of salt in my head and skin of obsidian. The silver has tarnished, But it stays slick with lies told , And untold. And retold. My lips seem bruised and discolored, poisoned by the silver within. The copper has oxidized, Turning blues and greens under the force of the salt water of my tears. And all the strife they have seen. The golden heart starts soft and pure Shining in the sunlight. But it is soft. Malleable All too soon it is dented. And pieces taken. Fanged tendrils of forbidden thoughts Twisting with a purpose Squirming to be said, to be made flesh Calling from beyond the veil Moving slowly in the black still water They whisper Fears and doubts, Clouding the edges my eyes in red haze Tempting me with truths And lies. wait a moment and we'll run towards the sunset, seek the breath of night as it ghosts along in shadowed spears; hold your dreams until the ocean runs clear, salt-free and empty of emotion. the sky told me she'd never fall in love with a man with metal wings and yet the pilots serenade her with droning songs of wind and lust; hold steady, the clouds are rising up to revolt in the light of a broken sunrise. I just want to be the kind of beautiful you can fall in love with, maybe if my hair were longer or if my ears didn't stick out so much, or maybe if I wore more makeup or heels or miniskirts. I want to be the kind of lovely that makes your head turn, but as it is all I am is only sort of pretty in a certain kind of light, and not the kind you see me in, so that doesn't even count. I want to be the kind of beautiful you fall in love with, but not at the expense of my own appearance. I want to be beautiful, and I am, but that doesn't guarantee anyone's love for me. I can't have someone else's beauty.

OOAK handcrafted necklace with cobalt, bright yellow, and gold czech glass beads and a lampwork foil pendant.

This moderately sized necklace is bold without being overpowering or physically heavy. The saturated, deep, cobalt blue combined with the bright yellow and gold beads remind me of a bright star shining through the depth of the midnight sky. The darker cobalt blue beads are offset and complimented perfectly by the brighter citrine yellow. The subtle metallic gold and crystal czech glass beads combined with the copper foil in the lampwork pendant add a hint of extra texture and sheen to this one of a kind piece.
